EFG International Names New Risk Chief

has named a new chief risk officer, Ranjit Singh; he succeeds Thomas A Mueller, who was elected to Raiffeisen Switzerland’s board a few days ago.

Singh takes up the post on 1 January 2019, subject to this being approved by regulators. He will report to chief executive Giorgio Pradelli. 

Most recently, Singh served as group chief risk officer and group executive of Standard Life Aberdeen in Edinburgh and London from 2013 to 2018. Prior to that, he served as group chief risk officer of Swiss Re in Zurich, from 2007 to 2011. From 2002 to 2007, he was in a similar role at Allianz SE in Germany. He has a bachelor of science in business administration from Winona State University in Minnesota, USA, and a master of business administration in international management from the Thunderbird School of Global Management in Arizona, USA.

Until Singh takes up the reins in January, Dimitris Politis will immediately act as interim CRO, while continuing to serve as chief financial officer.

As reported in October, the firm is melding its legal and compliance functions into a single division to be led from 1 May next year by former Edmond de Rothschild senior figure, Yves Aeschlimann. He will take over from Vittorio Ferrario, group compliance chief, who leaves the firm early next year. The Zurich-listed firm also made top-rank changes, announced in September.
